Agronomic responses of grapevine ‘Chenin Blanc’ as a function of training systems and rootstocks

The aim of this research was to study the influence training system and rootstock on yield, vigor physiology ‘Chenin Blanc’ grapevine at São Francisco Valley, northeastern Brazil. An experiment carried out eight harvests, from 2013 2017, in Petrolina, state Pernambuco. Grapevines were grown under two systems, lyre espalier, five rootstocks: ‘IAC 572’, 313’, 766’, ‘Paulsen 1103’ ‘SO4’, using a split-plot randomized block design, with systems assigned main plot subplot. Lyre favored an increase number bunches, branches leaf mass harvest first semester year, while second there increases 40 % bunches 10 mass. promoted more balanced vines, showing better ratio between production pruning weight (Ravaz index). rootstocks 313’ 572’ increased yield bunch both ‘SO4’ reduced vigor. stomatal conductance instantaneous efficiency water use not influenced by either or rootstock. Under tropical conditions may be system, preferably 766’ rootstock, obtain high yields grapevines.
